Mobile Apps

Mobile Apps for iPhone and Android

Promote your business, blog, products and news with a mobile app that can be quickly installed on your clients and fans phones or tablets. An informational style of app can have some interaction, it’s a bit like a website except that it is installed on the screen of a phone with an icon.

Here are a few screenshots from apps we have created.

The NEWFM app promotes the competitions, news and interviews plus local events. When the interviews are loaded onto the website they feed into the iTunes podcast and are also playable from within the app. Contact details for the radio station and forms to submit events and daily dilemmas to the breakfast show are provided. The news, audio and interviews in the app update automatically when the information is published on the newfm.com.au website.

NeatFreak App

The NeatFreak app presents the news and tips from the neatfreakme.com website in an easy to read format that updates when new items are published on the website. Sally’s blog, house cleaning tips and products are all presented in the app, neatly categorised.

Colonial Terrace Motor Inn app

The Colonial Terrace Motor Inn app provides a convenient link to the online accommodation booking system at colonialterrace.com.au that the motel uses and offers an incentive discount for doing so. Along with information about the motel rooms there is a regularly updated local events page, tripadvisor reviews, general enquiry forms and all the necessary contact details for the motel reception.

Getting repeat corporate clients to download the app and book directly online rather than via wotif or another booking aggregator will be a helpful saving from sales comissions.

Usage statistics for your app

There is informative graphs and data showing the devices used to access your app, how many downloads there have been and how often the app is being opened. This lets you see at a glance if people are making use of the app and opening it more than once.

There’s more you can learn about your subscribers

Such as what versions of Apple iOS or Android OS are they using, how long have the been opening your app for when they use it and what are the most popular days to open your app.

Send popup messages to your subscribers

Once your app is installed on a phone or tablet it might be one of dozens and quickly forgotten. The beauty of a push notification (popup message) is a 126 character message that it shows on the screen of the phone similar to the way an sms works so it can be used to get a very immediate response. You can even pick a ringtone to play. Don’t overdo it though, more than one a day and you might find you have a rush of people uninstalling your app.

Use push notifications to increase sales

This is a real hidden gem of mobile apps that sets them apart from a website. Imagine you own a coffee shop and there is a reminder at each table to install your app to get a free gift. Next time it’s a bit quiet you can send a message that there is a free size upgrade for all orders of flat white before 2pm, or a link to a photo of a cake that you have a half price special on.

Targeting which people will receive the push notification

Sending a message to a subset of your subscribers lets you make it relevant and timely. How about scheduling the message for 9am Monday morning or only to people in a certain city or maybe just to iPhone users.

Your brand in the App Store and on Google Play

We can get your app published in the Apple App Store and the Android Google Play store. Plus we can easily put promotional buttons on your website linking to the app. How about promoting your app to your existing client mailing list or via sms to increase subscriptions? We can help with that too.

Why a mobile app for business?

The benefit to a business of an app will depend like any marketing tool on whether it is shared, promoted, used, useful, interesting and of value to clients. For businesses with a regular client base providing an app can be a reference and contact tool or for a walk-in type of business or retail it can be used to promote specials and encourage return business with offers and coupons.

Potential uses and benefits of a mobile app include:

  • Convenient reference for existing clients
  • Quick contact buttons for your phone, email and web
  • Enquiry forms to collect information
  • Display a Google Map of your location
  • Promote special offers with screen ‘push notifications’
  • List your recent blog posts or news updates
  • Sell products or services with PayPal payment
  • Coupon offers to encourage regular clients
  • List menu items, products or other features for clients
  • Display a photo gallery or photos with text
  • Show a calendar of events
  • Display information from a database
  • Show videos and provide audio or podcasts to play
  • Link to password protected pages of your website
  • Evidence of the contemporary nature of your business
  • Shareable on social media and via sms
  • Link to testimonials and reviews websites

Tip: To motivate people to use your app such as to change their habits from booking to book or buy directly rather than through an affiliate you could provide a VIP reward or bonus when they arrive.

An app for your business

Your app can be published on the iphone and android app stores. An app is designed to make it easy for your regular clients to contact you and access links to your website, bookings etc.

The home screen normally has your logo at the top and buttons to the relevant things below like links your website and a click to call button, similar to the screenshot on the right for example.

Setup Fee: $290 inc GST

The first 3 months of the app being in the app store are at no cost to you, after that the running cost is $297/yr inc GST.

Included in this is up to one change to the app per year, for example a booking link, phone number or other adjustment.

The app links can include any or all of the following if you wish:

  • Phone, click to call
  • Mobile, click to call
  • Email link
  • Website link
  • Link to a reviews and testimonials site
  • Google Map
  • Share with a friend
  • A client information button and linked screen which has full address details, office opening times and more contacts plus a photo of premises from the road and entry with happy staff.
